The Teamsters’ and Operators’ agreement were both ratified this week. We will post copies of the Wages and Fringes pages and the signed contracts on the resources page as soon as they are available

The Teamsters met at the Local 38 hall last Saturday, August 21st, ratifying the tentative agreement reached last week, and the Operators’ ballots were counted and the ratification result announced on Tuesday, August 24th.

Watch for the posted documents and if you have questions, contact your union business agent, your foreman or superintendent or email info@Northwestconstruction.com.

August 2, 2021

The bargaining parties for the Operators have reached a tentative agreement and the next step is for the members of Local 302 to vote on that agreement. NWC has sent more detailed information to our employees who are members of Operators Local 302, and we encourage them to vote their preference on the contract.

Ballots are anticipated to be mailed out as soon as August 2, 2021, but no later than August 4, 2021.  If you do not receive a ballot by August 6, 2021, please call the union hall at (425) 806-0302  on Monday, August 9, 2021 and report to them no ballot was received.  You will have two options at this point:

                1.  Request that the union hall mail you a second ballot

                2. Go down to the union hall and pick up your ballot.

For the first time, Local 302 has set up a ballot box for in-person voting at the Bothell hall.  You may drop off your previously mailed ballot or pick up a ballot and cast your vote in-person at that time.

Note of Caution: Your union representatives will be monitoring the ballots to ensure that no individual has voted more than once. If it is determined that an individual has cast more than one ballot, then all ballots cast will be considered null and void and your vote will not count.  Local 302 takes very seriously its voting process and will not allow for fraudulent voting.

The tentative agreement has been posted to the Resources page here so those interested can review the details. If the distribution of ballots is successful on August 2nd, ballots will need to be returned by August 23, 2021 with an expected count on August 24, 2021.

July 12, 2021

The Laborers’ agreement was ratified by the District Council and we are hoping to get a copy soon to post to the Resources page. Wages and fringes have been posted and are effective 6/10/21.

The Teamsters and Operators are continuing negotiations. The bargaining parties for the Operators have executed an extension of the previous contract through July 23, 2021.

As announced on the 7th of July, the Operator’s ratification vote did not pass. Local 302 representatives have confirmed that only 30% of the eligible voters voted the proposed agreement. Some union members have reported they did not receive a ballot. If you are among those who did not receive a ballot, please ensure that your current mailing address is updated with Local 302 before another agreement is proposed. As we have stated before, we encourage all to exercise their right to vote.

Watch for more updates which will be posted as we become aware of negotiation status changes.

July 7, 2021

The Laborers’ agreement was ratified by the District Council and we are hoping to get a copy to post to the Resources page soon. The Teamsters are continuing negotiations through ongoing sessions. The Operator’s ratification vote did not pass. The bargaining parties are getting back together to discuss next steps, and as more details come to light, we will pass them on.

As a reminder, it is our goal to provide you with accurate and timely information as it comes in. If you have questions, please reach out to your union rep or our designated email address.

June 11, 2021

The Laborers’ reached a tentative agreement which was ratified by the District Council. The wages and fringes have been posted on the AGC Labor Relations web page and are effective June 10, 2021 (See link to page on the NWC 2021 Contract Negotiations Resources web page).  The tentative agreement is also available on the same Resources web page and the contract will be posted on the referenced AGC web page as soon as it is finalized.

A tentative agreement was also reached by negotiation teams with the Operators of Locals 302 and 612 (See Resources page to access this agreement as well). The Operator’s ratify the agreement through a “mail-in” vote by union members. This is expected to be completed for both Locals, #302 and #612, by the July 15th contract extension date.

The Teamsters are continuing negotiations, although the next session has not yet been scheduled. We will provide further updates on the Teamster negotiations when they become available.

May 28, 2021

Today is the last day of negotiations prior to the expiration of contracts. The Operators and Laborers have already signed extension agreements to continue negotiations through June 15th. The Teamsters have not traditionally signed extension agreements, and in today’s negotiation session agreed to continue negotiations scheduling the next sessions for next Wednesday & Thursday, June 2nd and 3rd.

At the present time, none of the negotiations have reached tentative agreements. Until a tentative agreement is reached, the negotiators do not share actual details of contract provisions being negotiated.

May 26, 2021

Negotiating teams remain in labor negotiations with all three of our construction labor groups as we draw closer to the 31st of May when the current contracts for the Laborers, Operating Engineers and Teamsters expire.  Teams will continue to work hard to negotiate mutually beneficial agreements. It is anticipated that some of these contracts will not be finalized by the deadline, and extensions have been discussed for those who may go past the 31st.  As a reminder, the current wage/fringe packages apply until new contracts are ratified.

May 14, 2021

Negotiating teams have continued to meet with both the Operators’ Locals 302 and 612 and the Washington and Northern Idaho District Council of Laborers with more meetings on the schedule within the next week. The Teamsters have scheduled their initial meetings for the week of May 24th. The initial schedule for these meetings is for each day from Monday through Thursday of that week.

May 04, 2021

Negotiations have begun with the AGC negotiating team and representatives from both the Operators’ Locals 302 and 612 and the Washington and Northern Idaho District Council of Laborers, with the Teamster group to follow within the next week or two. The initial session is normally followed by negotiation sessions each week through May. The target date for having a completed contract is by the date that the current contract expires, May 31st, at which time employees will have an opportunity to review and ultimately vote on the proposed agreement. It is not uncommon for negotiations to extend through June or beyond.
