NWC researched, procured, and installed a custom conveyor belt system to resolve access challenges at this urban site, saving time and labor by increasing the efficiency of soils removal.
The 613,554-square-foot Bellevue Hyatt expansion consists of five floors of subterranean parking, two levels of ballrooms, a conference center, and 18 levels of hotel rooms totaling 357 rooms. NWC’s scope of work included mass excavation and installation of underground utilities for the expansion.
Due to the limited access of the downtown location and the 50-foot depth of excavation, a custom conveyer belt system was procured to transport excavated soils to a centralized truck loading zone located on Bellevue’s busy NE 10th Street. The system consisted of two 42-inch conveyors comprising 220 linear feet, a truck load hopper, a variable speed conveyor hopper, and a centralized operator control center.
