Highway 99
Water Main Replacement Project

Snohomish County, WA

NWC is currently working on the replacement of approximately 27,000 feet of aging water main pipe for the Alderwood Water and Wastewater District (District). In 1933, the District installed 14,000 feet of pipe on the east side of Highway 99 and in 1946 installed 13,000 feet of pipe on the west side. As the water mains are nearing the end of their structural lives, the District is proactively replacing them to improve the water system infrastructure and avoid impacts resulting from water main breaks. The new water mains will total approximately 29,000 feet and include replacement of fire hydrants and water services along Highway 99 and other areas. The estimated completion for this project is fall 2012. NWC will return to the site in spring 2013 to complete final paving for all work areas.

To limit construction impacts, NWC is performing work in residential areas during daytime hours and on Hwy 99 at night, as well as maintaining traffic access on Hwy 99 throughout the project.
