Labor Negotiations
2024
2024
Thank you for visiting Northwest Construction’s 2024 contract negotiation webpage.
Our current union contracts through the AGC are set for renewal this year. New contracts will benefit Northwest Construction, our employees, and our union partners by establishing a firm foundation to continue our productive and long-lasting working relationships. We have set up this website to serve as a reliable source of fact-based information throughout the process and will be providing important information as contract negotiations move forward.
Collective bargaining and contract negotiations are a critically important aspect of our business, and a part of what makes our workforce so strong. Our pledge to you as these conversations progress is to always provide honest and fact-based information and straightforward answers to questions our employees have.

This tentative agreement elevates the total compensation package for operators to historic levels and is extremely strong. NWC has emailed each Operator a copy for their review.

Negotiations have begun with the AGC negotiating team and representatives from both the Operators’ Locals 302 and 612 and the Washington and Northern Idaho District Council of Laborers, with the Teamster group to follow within the next week or two. The initial session is normally followed by negotiation sessions each week through May. The target date for having a completed contract is by the date that the current contract expires, May 31st, at which time employees will have an opportunity to review and ultimately vote on the proposed agreement. It is not uncommon for negotiations to extend through June or beyond.
What is the collective bargaining process and why is it important?
Collective bargaining is the process that we engage in to facilitate formal contract negotiations between Northwest Construction management and the unions that represent our employees. Each year, unions represent workers across the country and negotiate or renegotiate bargained contracts. This process allows us to come to a mutually beneficial agreement that protects the interests of employees while ensuring we maintain a strong and healthy business that can continue supporting our workers and their families.
What is the best way for me to have a positive impact on my union’s negotiation?
The most important thing all NWC employees can do is to exercise your rights by engaging in the negotiating process and make your voice heard by voting on the proposed contract once we have reached that stage. Additionally, we encourage all employees to seek accurate information and become informed and educated about the issues.
What role will Northwest Construction management play in the process?
Northwest Construction management is committed to playing an educational role in the process and supports the AGC negotiation team in their efforts to partner with the union negotiation team. We will continue encouraging all employees to engage and make your voices heard in the process and sharing fact-based information about the status of negotiations and ultimately, the contract itself. Proposed contract changes will only be communicated when union and company negotiation teams have come to a tentative agreement.
Will contract proposals be posted?
Negotiation teams do not share information of what each partner proposes during negotiations until a tentative agreement has been reached. At the time a tentative agreement is reached, union negotiating team representatives make the proposed contract available to members for review prior to “voting the contract”. The voting procedure is different for the various union groups, i.e. the Teamsters vote in person, the Operators vote by mail, and the Laborers’ contract is voted by the union leadership. For 2024 contract negotiations, when these proposed contracts are available, we will post them on the Resources web page for easy access.
Where should I go if I have questions?
We have set this website up as a place for employees to access information and ask questions. We will be updating this website regularly throughout the process and providing the most current information that is available to us. If you have question or see information you aren’t sure about on social media or other platforms, please contact your supervisors who can help provide factual answers and direct you to credible and trustworthy resources.
