DESCRIPTION
This project involves the installation of a new sewer main, facilitating the connection of the new Kenworth dealership to the local municipality’s system. Our team will execute the installation, maneuvering around several existing utilities across various right-of-way owners.
SCOPE OF WORK
The project involves the installation of approximately 2,108 linear feet (LF) of new 12-inch sewer main to connect Pape’s new Kenworth dealership to the municipal system. Excavation depths will range from 16 to 28 feet below grade, navigating through glacial till soils. Given the presence of several existing utilities within the excavation limits, meticulous planning and sequencing with utility owners are imperative.
The new sewer line runs parallel to the shoulder of S 320th St, an arterial route to Interstate 5. Consequently, daily lane closures will be necessary under restricted work hours to facilitate the crews’ operations. As part of the sewer scope, 235 LF of boring will be conducted beneath two major live utility lines, contracted to Northwest Boring. These crossings will pass beneath a Tacoma Water 60-inch main supply line and a William’s Pipeline 18-inch high-pressure fuel line.
Detailed planning and sequencing, aligned with the utility owners’ standards and protocols, will ensure the successful installation of new steel casing underneath these lines, facilitating the installation of the new sewer line. A combination of traditional auger boring and the utilization of a tunnel boring machine will be deployed to complete the scope effectively.
